A 27-year-old Owolabi Olabisi, would be spending sometime in the correctional centre before his trial commences next month.
Man charged to court over defilement
The defendant allegedly fingered the vagina of an eight-year-old baby girl who is his neighbour’s child.
Arraigned before Justice Abiola Soladoye on Monday at the Sexual Offences Court in Ikeja, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual assault by penetration.
Court remands suspect
Thereafter Justice Soladoye remanded him in the correctional facility pending his bail application and commencement of trial.
The State counsel, Ms. Abimbola Abolade informed the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on January 18, 2023 about 7:20 p.m on Ojuelegba Road, Surulere, Lagos.
He was said to have committed an offence that contravenes Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, an offence that could attract life imprisonment, if convicted.
The judge slated his trial till February 20, 2024.
